Juror's Statement:

When I was asked to come to HM as a visiting artist, I was thrilled! It is an honor to jury the 2007-2008 Annual Online Exhibition.

Looking through the nearly 200 images, I was immediately impressed by the overall quality and creativity exhibited in the work.  Narrowing down the images to only 70 was a difficult task as all the work showed merit in one way or another.  At this point, Mr. Renner said to me (more than once), “pick what you like, what suits your taste”.

As many of you know my own work consists of functional vessels that are often decorative.  I am a sucker for technique, and love to figure out how something was done, but love it even more when I cannot figure it out.  Craftsmanship is hard to argue with, and
so many of these pieces show the care and consideration of true artists/craftsman.

Congratulations to all of you.  The work coming from your ceramics studio is truly amazing.
