Artist Statement:

My dad always complained that the handles on the mugs I brought hom from school were too small, too fragile, or not the right shape. So it wasn't a surprise to see him stick with his regular cofffee mugs. So I began to experiment with functional objects, not just mugs, with the hopes of creating an everyday object that was comfortable to use. I played with contour and texture, color of glazes, size and shapes of handles, while gathering techniques from fellow students and other artist and influences from my surroundings. And i knew all my hard work paid off when my dad began to use the mugs I brought home. It's always nice to see someone else appreicate the objects I put so much of my time into making.
